THE
MODEL
This three-phase program improves educational outcomes for
high-potential students from underserved communities by
supporting all aspects of their needs and development while
preparing them academically and socially for success- from
middle school through career.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The YES Middle School Program equips students with the necessary
academic and social skills to navigate the high school admissions process
and transition to competitive high schools.
The YES Middle School Program prepares students
academically and socially to transition to high school. Middle
schoolers participate in weekly in-school sessions focused on
a rigorous math and logic curriculum to improve critical
thinking, literacy, and self-expression. Scholars participate in
robust summer programming designed to build cultural
capital and prevent academic summer backslides through
field trips, outdoor education, camps, and residential
educational programs - both locally and across the country.
Middle school Scholars travel to Washington D.C. to visit
boarding schools, the campus of The School of Ethics and
Global Leadership, and colleges in the D.C. and Virginia areas.
Monthly, Scholars volunteer in the community at A Simple
Gesture, an ongoing food drive by the Hunger and Health
Coalition.
