THE
MODEL
This three-phase program improves educational outcomes for highpotential students from underserved communities by supporting all
aspects of their needs and development while preparing them
academically and socially for success- from middle school through
career.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The YES Middle School Program equips students with the necessary
academic and social skills to navigate the high school admissions process
and transition to competitive high schools.
The YES Middle School Program is designed to prepare students
academically and socially for the transition to competitive New York
City high schools. Starting in 6th grade, students engage in weekly
in-school sessions focused on math and logic and participate in our
Saturday and summer programs, which combine high school level
math curriculum, narrative essay writing, literacy skill building,
enriching field trips around NYC, and outdoor education. Beginning
in 7th grade, YES programming emphasizes the critical high school
application process, ensuring that Scholars are well-equipped to
apply to screened and specialized public and independent high
schools. YES staff members support students and families
throughout every aspect of this complicated process, ensuring that
each Scholar can access the best-fit high school. This phase is
crucial in positioning students for academic success and paving the
way to college graduation.
